A Solo Victory for Miguel Morras and a Third Place Finish for Kurt Catnot.

Tuesday night was great for Champion SystemCycles Gladiator Racing Team with another victory for Miguel Morras in the Pro 12 race at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. He broke away from the field with 3 laps remaining. The field did not react on time and Miguel pushed his body to the limit giving him a sustainable lead. He held that lead for his solo victory, his 3rd for the season. The leader of the Floyd Bennett Race Series, Jared Bunde of Mengoni, followed in 2nd place.

In the Cat 3-4 Race, it ended up it “Super Fast” sprint to the finish where our own, Kurt Catnot finished Third.

We are looking forward to placing more in the summer race series at Floyd Bennett.

On The Track

Andrew Lacourte, Raj, Steve Smith, Gordon and Kurt have been tearing up the Track at Kissena and T Town. Our guys raced well with a great result on the Devil’s Scratch Event.

Memorial Day Race Weekend – Jay Mueller

Tour of Somerset Hills

Tour of Somerset Hills kicked off the summer of Pro Am Bike Racing. It was hot and rough on the first day of this big race weekend. We had a strong showing with our “young guns” Gordon Parola and Raj "Spider" Seepersaud. Team captain, Jay "Bam Bam" Mueller and Blake "the Mouth" or "Hot Dog" Longacre, and Franklin Burgos all lined up. The heat was wicked and pace was vigorous, which forced Raj, Gordon, and Jay out after 50 of 80 miles. Franklyn, our Dominican Super Star, flatted while in the leading break, and was unable to get a wheel change.

Longacre stayed in until the bitter end, finished in the low 30's out of 120 starters. The main peleton had been crushed, with less than one-third of it remaining in for the end. Mike Norton of Rite Aid won the race with Alberto Blanco of GS Mengoni taking second.

Bound Brook

This Elite criterium saw Jay, Gordon, Franklin line up. The fast pace forced newly minted Cat II Parola out early. Recently ill Mueller popped not long afterward and Burgos held on in the 93 degree heat for a strong field finish. The 50 kph average was tough! GS Mengoni racer Amaury Perez took out the sprint finish.

In the Cat 3 race, we had a great showing from Scott Snyder and Kurt Catnot

Somerville

The crown jewel of Northeast Criterium racing saw hot temps and fast speeds. The category II race again saw Parola, Seepersaud, and Mueller line up. Parola crashed out early and Mueller and Seepersaud held on for field finishes. Seepersaud is coming into crit form and it was Mueller's first finish in a while after one month of illness.

The NRC ProI race saw Longacre and Burgos suffer through the fast pace and high temps and finish in the field. The race was won by Navigators Insurance's Hilton Clarke. Just past the finish line, a crash occurred with Burgos hitting the ground. His hand went through a competitor's wheel and he sustained a significant injury to his thumb. He was transported to Somerset Hospital and underwent surgery last night.

Our hearts are with Burgos as we wish him a speedy recovery.
