| Congratulations to Team Champion SystemCycles Gladiator
The “Boys in Orange” deliver yet another win by taking the New York Spring Series with Miguel Morras as the champion for 2007. Marc Adam, our promising developmental rider, rode off to victory on the final day of the Spring Series. It was a great win for him and our team demonstrating our dominance. Team Champion SystemCycles Gladiator was recognized as the most aggressive team for the series and we plan to defend our title in 2008. The competition is fierce in New York with some of the best racers in the country competing each weekend. Our hats off to you Miguel and Marc for bringing home victory!
The Cherry Blossom Awakening
For the Pro 1,2,3 field, it was fast and furious with a 125 rider field. All the best in the region showed up for this Spring Classic. Empire, Fiore di Fruta, Mengoni, and Team Rite Aid were all present with their squads. The pace was fast and fierce. Blake, Miguel, and Franklin all took turns up front. Lap after grueling lap, we attempted to get away, but it was a futile effort. No result for the team. But we made up for that in the Cat3,4 fieled.
In Cat3-4 Field our we had a impressive result with Kurt Catnot taking 5th and Marc Adam taking 6th in the final sprint the finish.
Battenkill – Roubaix
This classic race that coincides with the ever so famous Paris- Roubaix proved to be one tough race. Battenkill is a tiny town in central New York with classic picturesque scenery, but the race travels over one hellish course. One of our very own stars, Blake Longacre stated after his ride
“Oh gosh, what to say....
Cold, windy, bottles bouncing out of my cage, can't concentrate for more than 3 seconds at a time, pace was brutal, the roads were wet but not muddy, the potholes rattled me to me bones! Still waiting for final results, but I know I beat Will Rifflermacher in the sprint for what I thought was about 12th place (probably more like 17th)”
He did indeed finished in top 30, which was better than two-thirds of the field that dropped out after a couple of laps.
Jiminy Peak – Killer Climb
A tough road race for the team, but we stuck in there to bring a result. Franklin, who finished 17th and Miguel, who finished 37th in the Pro 1,2 field.
On the Track
For all of you that read the New York Times, there was a sighting of Andrew Lacorte in the City Section of the NY Times in print and also Online. It was a fun little piece.
Kurt has also been making waves in the track. Look for some serious results from these two guys.
Floyd Bennet Madness!
Two back to back second place finishes in Round 1 of the Floyd Bennett Field Race Series. Miguel Morras, champion of the New York Spring Series took 2nd to former Champion System Rider, Jared Bunde of Mengoni. This is going to be exciting to watch in the weeks to come. Jared finished 2nd overall in 2006 for the team.
Marc Adam took 2nd in the Cat 3,4 field behind Deno’s Wonder Wheel Team racer, Tony Maesto. Tony Maesto won this field in the 2006 series, he now has an adversary from, Marc Adam of Champion SystemCycles Gladiator.
