| The racing has begun, indoors that is, with some intense roller racing. Two of our top team members were on the pursuit for our first win of the season, Andrew Lacorte and Blake Longrace. It was an exciting evening for our team, but no win. Our valiant efforts earned our team an honorable 2nd place finish.
Read Andrew’s story below.
Wow! I never had that much fun on my bike yet. When Floyd Landis showed up it was crazy. Floyd even stated that he had his money on me winning calling me by my nic name "Cup Cake". I could not believe it.
I wound up making it through each heat conserving my energy very carefully with the help of long time friend, multiple Masters World Track Champion, Delroy Walters, coaching me through my where-bout's during the race. As I made it to the final had to go up against the only guy that has beat me to this day on the rollers, Gui Nelson.
Well I just started training for the year the last time that he beat me 2 years ago. Gui also happens to be in the US National Endurance Tack Talent pool and was looking good but I had him no doubts about it. Everyone that was there knew it. But then the Floyd's bad luck hit me. I purposely stayed neck and neck with Gui. While watching hand signals from Delroy I knew exactly where I was and we (well me) where to launchan attack at the last 375 meters to go. At that point Gui was a little ahead. But I was not concerned at all. So I jumped to take the lead back and the RPM's were up there, and I was feeling very good with plenty in reserve. And then it happened. The bike lifted up and over and went off the back of the rollers which means that I was bouncing at that high RPM and the wheel base was just too short. It was fun though.I had a great time. Great exposure for the team, I am sure the pictures will start to pop up on NYVELOCITY.
Thanks guys for coming out to cheer me on. Sorry about the second place. I just have to get back on and do it again. But I was the first looser so that has to count.
