| With the temperature at 100 degrees, Jared Bunde continued to “bake” the competition at the Floyd Bennett Field weekly event by winning for the second week in a row.
This marks the 3rd week in a row the field was shredded the Champion System Elite Team giving everyone some major gutter time in the crosswinds, along with attacking and forcing others to chase.
7 members of the Elite Team Squad in attendance including Jared Bunde, David Sommerville, Rob Wing, Josh Friedman, Tom Bencivengo and Devin Flaherty and Jp Kiminski controlled from start to end.
With 3 laps to go the field detonated, partly due to the heat and hardcore racing tactics of the team, leaving just 10 riders left and 4 of which were Champion System riders Bunde, Sommerville, Bencivengo and Kiminski. ¼ way through the last lap team road captain Sommerville told Kiminski to attack which allowed us to protect Bunde till the last possible moment by forcing the others to chase.
This tactic worked to perfection and once Kiminski was caught in the last 600 meters it was easy work for Bunde to sprint for the win!
Results
1st Jared Bunde
6th David Sommerville
7th Tom Bencivengo
10th Jp Kiminski
We are now a mere 2 points off the series lead with 2 race dates left and given our recent rack record we expect to win
